Thank you for requesting our "Where To Go Camping" Guide. I hope that you find it informative. I also hope that it will enhance your Troop's camping experience. If you would like to share your Lodge's Camping Guide, feel free to e-mail it to me. My e-mail addresses are: TMConlon@aol.com or tmconlon@webspan.net. I use Microsoft Word Version 6.0 and Excel Version 5.0 (both are part of MS Office Version 4.2). If you don't have it in MS Word-compatible or MS Excel-compatible format, let me know. I will e-mail you my mailing address and you can send it to me in "hard copy." This is the first edition of our guide. I intend to add to the guide in the Fall. I plan to include National Parks, State Parks and other public areas. Also, I intend to include private areas, such as river trips, etc. When the revised edition is completed, I will post information on the appropriate forums (AOL, Scouts-L, etc.). The Guide is composed of 4 files. In proper order, they are: 1) cover.doc (the cover for the guide) 2) campgide.doc 3) tour.dot 4) campgide.xls (a Microsoft Excel file) tour.doc is a MS Word Template of a BSA Tour Permit. To use it you "fill in the blanks" and print it. The "blanks" are fields where you can type in your information. I generally type in the information in "Overwrite" mode. The Vehicle information blocks have room for 3 vehicles each. Generally what I do with the vehicles is, I put in the drivers, etc. information and save the whole template. Then all you have to do is fill out the front of the Permit and print it. The great part about it is, you put in all the vehicles and drivers and you're covered. You can print it out as many times as necessary. I generally save the completed permit as a .doc file. If we go to the same camp next year, all I have to do is change the dates &/or Leader's names campgide.xls is a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet. It includes several worksheets which, when printed out in their proper order, provide the camps information.
