The Den Mother's uniform was changed in 1955. As stated in "The History of Cub Scouting", it became a well-tailored gold or blue blouse and blue skirt. I believe that short sleeves, scarf, and field cap was also added at this time. Previous to that, it was a heavy looking blue smock-like dress with piping around the large collars and pockets. It had gold buttons and long sleeves. The Den Mother's tie was added in 1963. Randy Worcester Ass't Dist. Commish Corpus Christi, Texas Scout History page: http://users.aol.com/randywoo/bsahis Now with information on the 1st Eagle Scout, Arthur Eldred. When I went to Cub Scout Leader training, one of the trainers was wearing a Navy Blue, one piece dress with some insignia on it. It was a Den Mother's dress that she found at a rummage sale. I could not place the year for you. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Jul 1997 11:27:11 GMT From: Fred Osgood Subject: den mother ---------------------------- Forwarded with Changes --------------------------- From: Fred Osgood at ~PLAN_PO1 Date: 7/1/97 10:28AM To: OPENADDRESS INTERNETMAIL at SSW Subject: den mother ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - As I remember from wayback, early 50's, the den mother uniform could also be all blue.
