He was 73 years old, had been a Scoutmaster for 20 years, Silver Beaver Recepient, Order of the Arrow, etc., etc. He was also a Prisoner of War during WW II, being held as a prisoner in a German POW camp. He was a special person, and his funeral service was indeed beautiful. His pallbearers were his Eagle Scouts (now doctor, lawyer, attorney, successful businessmen) and one of the three ministers was one of his Eagle Scouts. It was a military funeral, and my friends (the Eagle Scouts) each told me how much my dad meant to their lives. It made me realize that all those weekends that my father went camping, leaving my mother alone, was really worth something. He was a humble man, not rich in materials things, but rich spiritually. He always taught that a Scout is loyal....first to God, then his family, then his country. He touched many lives through Scouting, and had close to 40 Eagle Scouts during his 20 years. His life was no doubt shortened by his experience as a POW, which many Ex-POWs say will shave 10 to 15 years off of a soldier's life. My father and Scoutmaster will be missed by his family and friends. He was a brave and exceptional guy, and he will always my hero. YiS, Ron
