While she was in the hospital and attached nursing unit, I noticed something that could be used as a unit or Eagle service project. The patient's/visitor's bookshelf. Many of thes places need books for the patients who can read to use to keep their minds active. Unfortunately, all I saw on the shelf there were a few war stories and a large number of "trashy romance" books. No SF, Westerns, and very few mysteries. If a wide selection of different books could be collected for these places, that could be a big help for some of the patients, or the visitors who come and can only sit in the room and watch for a while, due to the illness. After all, how many times can you read the same Sports Illustrated from the waiting room magazine rack without getting bored? A good supply of books and magazines is always a help, there. Particularly considering that the nature of some illnesses makes it necessary to dispose of them after certain patients have read them. This could be either a one-time only, or ongoing project.
