Scouting is not only a great program for youth it is a world-wide brotherhood going back 80 years. From the very begin, Scouting was designed as a game that builds citizens of character and leaders of integrity through a fun, safe program. Character is how we act when no one is looking and integrity is how others view our character. Most of the character the boys learn in Scouting comes from the adults' actions, not words. One of the main things that affects a boys' success in Scouting (or anything else) is parental interest, knowledge & support. I realize that not every parent can be active in the Troop and I don't expect it; we all of us have a lot of different commitments & responsibilities pulling us in different directions. But we do expect each parent to keep informed about their son's Scouting activities and be supportive of them. The Boy Scout program is very different from the Cub Scout program, just as adolescent boys are different from pre-adolescents. To get you started with us we are having a special meeting--a new Scout & Parent's Introduction to Scouting. This meeting will be at Trinity Church at 31 March at 7:00 PM. We expect at least one parent to attend (both would be better). This meeting should last no longer than about an hour and a half. We're looking forward to seeing you on the 31st. Mark W.
